About the Role
As a member of CREW’s management team, the Head of Engineering will build out and lead CREW’s engineering team. This will include recruiting in-house engineers with chemical, mechanical, automation, and sensor experience and engaging and managing external firms. The Head of Engineering will work directly with the CEO and management team to assess and execute CREW’s current and future deployments. As lead of the engineering team, this individual will oversee research and development from initial modeling, design, and prototyping to manufacturing, installation, and operation. As such, the ideal candidate will have experience designing, building, and testing multiphase reactor systems; interfacing with sophisticated engineering teams, manufacturers, and vendors; and taking physical technology from theory to deployment at first-of-a-kind and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee the design, build, installation, operation, and upgrading of carbon capture reactor systems at scale
Work across the lab- and deployment-scales to develop models that inform system design and optimization, and build and test design modifications
Oversee commissioning of field-deployed reactor systems, including coordinating with external engineering firms
Direct the modeling and design of multicomponent reaction systems, including solid-liquid, gas-liquid, and solid-gas reactions
Lead process development and equipment sizing
Assess construction materials for system components exposed to corrosive and hazardous liquids, solids, and for gasses that may be pressurized (1-10 bar)
Engage, direct, and manage vendors and manufacturers, including purchasing and evaluating contracts for services and hardware
Drive recruiting and build engineering team
Collaborate with the science team and perform technical communications, including internal and external facing presentations and reports
